the sun is a glorious thing

I have been sick for the last couple of days. Today is the first day I feel like a real person again. On top of that, the sun is shining and it's above 32 degrees! Yes!! It's so amazing how good you feel after being sick. It's a whole new world!

While I was down, I managed to finish two paintings for the Spraygraphic 4"x4" Mini Art Show! I will send them off today or tomorrow. They will be displayed at Cartel Coffee/Art Gallery in Tempe, AZ for the month of March and then at Conspire Art Gallery in Downtown Phoenix on April 1st until May.

happy happy Friday!

Hi!
It has been a productive week for me, tiring too. I got to do a lot of painting, cleaning, exercising and just catching up on life! I started my sketch or die journal and I'm so excited about it. I admit though, it takes me much longer to do each page than I anticipated. I'm sure that it will get better with time.

Today my painting entitled "If Stone Could Fly" is featured on a blog called "Every Photo Tells A Story." It's an awesome blog that posts art and photography to encourage creative writing! I'm excited to look at the comments and see what some people come up with!

Today, through a fellow crafter and blogger, Tizzalicious, I found out about this thing called Disqus. It is something you install on your Blogger that allows you to do comment replies! I'm SO excited about this! Ever since I started this blog, I've been highly dismayed about the inability to reply to a comment. Leave a comment so I can try it out!

Have a wonderful Friday!

sketch or die.

I just created a new blog that I call: sketch or die. I'm going to use it to post pics from my Sketch Journal. It's really nothing special, just something to keep me accountable so I actually DO IT! If I feel like I have to be loyal to my blog then I'll hopefully be consistent in sketching! I'm not going to actually blog with words here, pictures only!

Oh, and I got new glasses! For the first time I have multiple pairs to enjoy! Yess.

just checking in!

Hi!

Well, we've had a nice little vacation. The first full day was really warm. It was so nice to actually see the sun! It has been much colder ever since. We shopped and ate A LOT after the first day! HA! I promised Travis I wouldn't weigh myself for at least 5 days after we get home!

As much as I love vacation I miss my boys at home, Dustin and Neko! Driving 12 hours tomorrow. See ya later!

*squee*

Hello everyone! My husband have embarked on our little journey to Myrtle Beach. We left shortly before 2:00 so we could get to Art Whino before it closed. I almost thought I was going to miss my opportunity to go because our GPS totally led us to a random dead end street! Luckily my hubbie had printed directions from googlemaps.com that were right. We finally made it and in plenty of time.

Showing at Art Whino is the art of Bryan Collins! I have just recently discovered his art, and was instantly taken by it. So amazing in every way. If you're not familiar with his stuff check out his blog here and his Etsy shop here.. I could not believe when I found out that his art was going to be at a location that I'd be able to go see!! Anyway, on with the story... Finally we got there and instantly my breath was taken away. I found myself welling up with tears again and again. Haha! I couldn't help it! The paintings are so amazing as is, but in conjunction with the titles they are deeply moving and inspirational. You know when you watch a movie that really moves you, so much that you are in another world thinking about it for a day or two? I'm afraid that's what I'm going to be going through for the next couple days! If Bryan himself reads this I hope he's not totally creeped out by it! Trust me, I'm /fairly/ normal, I just love good art.

So here's a few shots I took at Art Whino. So glad my hubbie took this small detour for me! It was so worth it!

it's just me...

Yesterday we spontaneously went to Erie because my son and his friends wanted to attend this video shoot for War of Ages. I love War of Ages but I knew it was going to be nuts. I've already seen them multiple times and I really didn't feel like getting my head smashed in. So Travis and I went to Ink Assassins and I got a tattoo!! I've been thinking about this one for a while now. I knew I wanted it added to my wrist, and I wanted it to have something to do with painting. So Justin Jarrell whipped something up right on the spot! I was so impressed because it was exactly what I was thinking of. At first I was afraid I was annoying him because I couldn't explain what I wanted. I had an idea but I really didn't want to design it. I don't know what it is, but there is no way I could design my own tattoo. Anyway, here it is! I couldn't be more pleased!

Sew and Grow - Limited Edition ACEO Print

Available in my Etsy shop!
I'll only be making 20 of these and then that's it! These new cards are slightly different than my "first generation" art cards. They are full bleed, double sided, and mounted on heavy card stock. They are very nice, I put much TLC into them.

I am going to be slowly putting new ACEO prints up so keep watch! Also, soon I will do a big shop update with tons of originals! I'll keep ya posted!!

random somethings

I'm not extremely into football or the super bowl, even when it features the black and gold. I don't follow sports at all. Well, that's a lie. I follow the Steel City Derby Demons and go to games whenever I can. Roller Derby is far more exciting than any of these shenanigans!

I do admit, just to try and humor my friends, today I am wearing black and gold. I've also made my highly requested Texas Caviar to try and ease the pain of watching men in shiny tight pants running to and fro! I used to watch the super bowl for the commercials, but have recently become so disgusted by them, I don't even enjoy that part! HAAH! Don't I sound like such a grouch? No, it's really not that bad, but I will be happy when this is all over. It just something that I don't understand and simply don't care about. If you're excited, I hope the team of your choice kicks some major butt! *ducks from all the terrible towels being thrown at my head*

Here's a little painting I posted a sneak peak of a while back.

Not sure what I'm going to do with it. Maybe put it for sale on my Etsy?

Oh and here's a shot of Dustin Kensrue last week at Mr. Smalls. It was an amazing show.

I'm used to going to shows with mass chaos, so it was a nice change to see something so chill. Every "act" was just a guy and his guitar.

While we were at the show my husband (who was standing right behind me) sends me a text that says: "So I booked a condo on Myrtle Beach Feb. 12-16 and was wondering if you wanted to go with me."
Ahh. I /love/ husband.

Have a great day folks! Yay for black and gold! (did I just say that?)
