Fun With Silk Screens

I'm not a professional or anything, but I love to silk screen!
Maybe I should of got into the business? HA!

For Cornerstone, my band, Hand Drawn Mountains is doing a DIY preview of the up and coming full length. The covers are going to be made out of fabric!
I won't say much more about it...but they are going to be nifty-neat-o!
Here my little rig that Travis set up for me. It made it all so easy!

I did over 130 of them today... and it was a breeze! What a relief.
There's still so much to do to complete the project, but at least this part is finished.

I've been snap happy since I got my new camera. Here's a few...
Josh.

Brian. (My little bro!)

Dustin and my Taylor Big Baby called "Isaac."

Neko.

That is all! Have an amazing Memorial Day Weekend!

I got a new camera!

YAY!
I'm having so much fun playing with it...ah! I have so much to learn.

Dustin is having fun playing with it as well.
He even started a brand new flickr account for his new creative urges.
I've committed myself to reading the entire manual.
Ack. So boring, but it must be done!

Could someone please tell me...

I've been posting a lot of sketches lately. The truth is, I'm in between commission jobs now...so I really can't get into a random painting. I'm weird. I can't work on more than one painting at a time. When I'm painting, that particular piece consumes me. It's hard for me to switch gears. I have to say, even though I'm totally stoked about my upcoming project, I am looking forward to doing a few paintings for myself afterwards. It's all good! I'll have plenty of ideas stored up and I'll be ready to roll.

thriftings for the week and fun alterations!

A few things I got at the thrift store this week...

Nifty little birdie decorations.

Cute sewing kit.

Vintage sewing box.

Because of a little post by Stephanie Fizer, I was reminded of how I wanted to paint my garden gnome for quite some time. Since I got those birds (seen above) I was in the mode and ready to  paint!

My  mom gave me this gnome several years ago.
For whatever reason (probably laziness) I never got around to painting it. It was time!

So, I primed them up... and voilĂ !

Sorry the picture is all washed out! I had a hard time getting a decent picture...it was just glowing with its lustrous new paint job!
I haven't finish the birds quite yet. I'm thinking of putting them outside above my house numbers. When I decided for sure where they'll go then I'll know the right color to use.

Hope you are having a fabulous weekend!

Work in progress

Well...this piece is /actually/ finished as of last night. I just happened to get time to work on it, and amazingly enough finished. I've been really busy with commission work, so it's crazy that this one squeaked out at all! I'll show it to you in a day or two. Still processing the whole thing.

and...

Neko.
He's a work in progress for sure. I'm actually a little worried about him right now. His knee doesn't seem to be doing so well since the surgery. I'm sure it will just take time to heal, but I can tell it's really hurting him. He not even using that leg much at all. Poor little guy. At this point I'm wishing we never even did the surgery, but there's not much I can do about that now. Just pray his little leg heals up quick, ok?

Thrifty finds!

I'm an avid thrift store shopper. I also love flea markets, garage sales and rummage sales!  I always forget about posting what I find, so I think I'll try and be a little more diligent in that area. Ha! It's just fun!

Deer - 25¢
Strawberry - I forget! (it was thrifted a few years ago)
