Thrift Score! Suitcase Obsession.

Lately I've just been infatuated with vintage suitcases. I just keep buying them! I have plans to use some for my craft show displays, as well as in my house...but still. I'm surprised that hubbie still lets me buy them! He actually bargained at the fleamarket for my newest one.

Aren't they lovely?

I can't wait to use this one with my art/craft show displays!
It will work perfect for my pouches!

I'm so excited about this Escort Carry On bag I found at the flea market.
It's so clean and flawless. Only $2!

This is the E.C.G. case hubbie bargained for.  Love!

Unfortunately, a few of them were bought before I thought of checking to see if they were stinky inside! The big pink hardshell is so clean looking, but inside smells SO musty. I've tried baking powder and putting it out in the sun, to no avail. It's a shame because I would like to use this one as an actual suitcase! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the smell out? Or is it a lost cause?

Lately

Lately...
Love this idea for for the bloggie blog.
Stolen from Nova who stole it from Danielle.

Reading: Nothing really except blogs. I have a few books that I'm in the middle of...but I honestly haven't read them for so long, I couldn't even tell you their titles.

Watching: Scrubs. I'm not a tv or movie watcher, so when I do watch tv it's usually very concentrated. My son and I are watching Scrubs all the way through on Nextflix. I love it!

Listening: We're a music loving family here, so what I'm listening to usually is spread between what I AM listening to, with what THEY are listening to. So what's basically what's been playing in the Furman house?  Those Darlins, Social Distortion, Milagres, The Avett Brothers, Mumford & Sons, Death Cab for Cutie,  oh and Weezer! Saw them in concert last night!

Eating: Healthy. I have lost 18 lbs since January and Travis has lost 37 lbs!

Loving: That the weather is finally starting to break. I'm not a fan of the 90° weather though. Oh and my new tattoo. What? Yea, I got one. I'll post a peek soon. :D

Looking forward to: Cornerstone and our Pre-Cornerstone midwest tour!

Mourning: the loss of the Furman Iron Maiden Coffee Mug. R.I.P. (this is my addition to "lately")

What's going on?

Tonight is Bare Branches CD release party
in our good old home town of Butler, PA!
So excited to see our friends from Sam Goodwill!
Definitely check them out sometime when you have a chance.

Tomorrow we head out to Virginia
to play with our good friend Nathan Stiteler
(Remember him and the CD cover I did?)

Who knows what fun weirdness will come about.
I mean... this is what happened last time:
(Nathan is playing guitar - Jon P. on the keys)

OH, and one more thing!
I wanted to show you a video my son made for a contest.
I thought he did an excellent job!

Sorry I haven't been much fun here on the blog this week. I've sort of been in a weird funk. I'm done with all my stressful deadlines at the moment, and it seems my body went into vacation mode. Hopefully I will be done with that come next week. Need to get back to business!

Have a GREAT weekend everyone!

Childhood toys part III: The Smurf Collection

I can't believe I took the pictures for this post back in February, and totally forgot about them! Along with random 80's toys, I collect Smurfs. I haven't been as active in collecting them lately, simply because they are harder to come by...not to mention my collection just got too big. At one time I had two curio cabinets packed full, and then another little showcase for the small ones. Since then I've put one of the cabinets in storage. Maybe now is a good time to sell some off, being the Smurf movie is coming out this summer?
Here's a little look at my collection!

I have hundreds more of these little guys...but where to display them? I need someone to make me a massive display case. This case is special to me though. It used to hold my butterfly collection when I was a kid. My dad made just for me!  <3

Camera Thrift Score!

I am the new proud owner of a Nishika 35mm 3-D Camera! Yes, it's true...there is only one place in the country that will develop the film, but I can't wait to give it a try.
Camera Thrift Score!
I found this baby at an estate sale over the weekend. I saw the box out of the corner of my eye...and the four lenses. I quickly got distracted by a bunch of vintage suitcases, and that was the end of it. That night I had a dream about the camera. It reminded me of some sort of alien spider with all those beady eyes! Hahah! Anyway, so the next day I went back to get another look. I had never heard of a "3-D" camera before, but I guess they came out sometime in the 80's. These people wanted $100 for it! There was no way I was going to pay that, especially before I got online and did some research. The lady saw me looking at it and said I could have it for $50. That was still too much for me. I did in fact find it online for $26. Then later I found it on amazon for $10. Both of those did not include the leather case or the flash. So my husband and I went back and offered them $25 for it. The lady would not take it. She said they paid SO much more than $100 when it came out, so we could just go ahead and get it online. I don't know if she thought we were gonna bend or what! So, Travis gave a different lady at the sale our phone number, and said that if they changed their mind to give us a call. So, they ended up calling and brought it to our house! I probably wouldn't of wanted it if it didn't have the flash. I'm almost positive I can use that on my Canon.

Isn't this the weirdest looking camera you have ever seen? Prints are really pricey from this camera, so I'm going to take care in taking the pictures. Maybe even wait until our trip to Cornerstone for my first try. When I get them developed I will be sure to post, but it might be later this summer.

Check out these AMAZING instructional videos with Vincent Price! :D
