good bye glorious autumn

Autumn is over around these parts. I painted one last little water color as a farewell. It's a sad time since it's my favorite, but I shall not despair! Winter is my second favorite!!

...and it snowed!

My husband says that I love it because I don't have to leave the house if I don't want to. That's entirely not true. Even when I worked full time outside of the house I loved the snow and winter. I mean, if it's going to look all dead and dull outside, why not make it beautiful with shimmering snow!

Yesterday I got a call informing me that Sony could not repair my three year old Konica Minolta, so they replaced it with a brand new Sony Cybershot! What a GREAT surprise! I bought the three year service plan on that camera and it was about to expire on November 28th. The on/off switch had stopped working again. They had already tried to repair it once, but the symptoms started again shortly after. So I thought, I'd turn it in one last time. I never thought they would replace it completely! I did not like that Konica Minolta anyway. The colors were horrible and the focus was always soft. This new camera is a million times better! Always buy service plans on your cameras!!

As always when I get a new camera I want to try it out. Sadly there's nothing exciting around here to take pictures of! So, here's a couple I took out of desperation. HA!

The mantle in my studio.

Hello! LOL. Now this is desperation.

Have a cozy & cheerful day!

Random Acts of Color!!

Ah! I love autumn so much! As I was painting today, I looked out the window and it was like the colors jumped right off my canvas and onto the tree outside! So gorgeous! This is absolutely my favorite time of the year. This last week has been especially nice since the leaves have all changed but the weather has been a perfect 70 degrees! Why can't it stay like this forever?

Oh, and out front it's just as vibrant! Our tree has always been a late changer.

Here's the painting I finished up earlier today. It will be in my show coming up on December 4th at Kairos Coffee & Tea.

something to be passionate about...

You can make a difference in the life of a child trapped in slavery this Christmas as 20% of my earnings go to rescue these children!

Even though slavery was outlawed in the US in 1864, and it is not legal anywhere in the world, there are more slaves in the world today than at any time in human history! Men, women and children are exploited in the commercial sex industry; various forms of labor, including agricultural and factory work; as domestic servants; as child soldiers and even for organ trading. The part that really breaks my heart is the sex trafficking. Some girls are kidnapped and then sold into slavery, some are tricked by the promise of a false job, some even sold by their own parents due to the desperation of poverty. This not only involves women and teens, but includes children as young as 6 years old! Worst of all, in parts of the former Soviet Republics & Southeast Asia, babies are actually bred for sale to brothels.

This issue lays heavy on my heart. In a humble attempt to do something about it, from now until Christmas 20% of all my Etsy sales are going to go The Samaritans Purse Christmas Gift #8 Please help me make a difference and reach out to these poor children! Even if you do not buy through my Etsy shop, consider donating to The Samaritans Purse. They have an entire Christmas Catalog full of different ways to help.
