Vinyl Thrifting Fun!

Even though I think the thrift stores stink in Northern Virginia, I've been surprisingly been finding a lot of fun vinyl!

I picked up this Beatles record for Dustin a few weeks ago. It's in amazing shape (except for the stupid GoodWill tag on the front). This is the fourth Beatles record I've gotten at this GoodWill. I'm not sure what's up with that. It was just in with the regular records for only $1.50! If this record was at a thrift store in Butler where I used to live, it would be in the display case for $20. Hahah! Hope they never realize...it's all good with me!

Travis made fun of me when I brought this home. He tried to listen to Hank Williams in the car once. I couldn't stand it! I fully admit that my first impression on music comes out wrong a LOT of the time. I get annoyed "just because" someone is trying to make me listen to something new. LOL! I know I'm a jerk! (I'm trying to do better ok?) Also, I wasn't in the mood that day especially. I've been reading so many Johnny Cash books, and have learned a lot about Hank Williams in the process...ok NOW I'm in the mood. Anyway I totally adore listening to this record. It has such a warm record sound. Hahah. Sorry, I'm only human!


Pretty cool Joshua Tree U2 record. This thing is pretty beat up though. It skips. Oh well.


Grabbed this for Dustin as well. I love it, but I know he's been wanting it too. Yay!

LIFE Magazine November 1969

Over the weekend I scored this LIFE Magazine from November 1969 featuring Johnny Cash! Travis and I got it at an estate sale, which was super expensive. To our surprise the guy only wanted 50¢ for it! Yea!
I've been reading Johnny Cash books like crazy lately, so this was extremely appropriate.


I thought it was interesting that most of the pictures of JC in this magazine, were ones I had not seen before.
So fun to look at!

No photoshop back then, so I bet these were quite an accomplishment to make!

Neighborhood Dumpster Dives!

Ok, so let me clear something up. When I say dumpster dive, I don't exactly mean it. All of the items I've come upon have been neatly sitting beside the dumpster. It seems like in my neighborhood in the condos, if someone thinks someone might want it they put it beside the dumpster. YAY! I like that! Of course... If for some reason I noticed something in very nice condition that was easy to get, I WOULD dive for it. LOL!

Here are just a few of the things we've found so far!


This skateboard we grabbed for a friend back in Butler that collects old school skateboards! YEA!


A cute little shelving unit with storage baskets!

This one was funny because the shelves and the baskets came on two completely separate occasions. Hey it works! :D The baskets were brand new with Ikea tags still attached.

I've gotten a several other things that I don't have pictures of... a couple more shelving units just like this one only lighter color, and a bran new white Ikea dresser! It's crazy what people throw away. I mean...at least take it to Goodwill or something! There have been several big dresser type things I've passed up as well. It's crazy!

Oh gosh...I've been finding so many awesome things lately.

I have never seen mustache mugs before. So fabulous!


This owl was a little more expensive than I like to pay at the thrift store...but I'm in love with it!


I'm super happy I am still working at home.
Yea, I almost had a job at Starbucks. But that's another story for another day. Ha!

Thrift haul!

Was back home in Butler last weekend, and you know what that means! I hit up every thrift store in the area. People of Butler...you need to appreciate what amazing thrift stores you have! Treasures galore.



I haven't had time to take any more pictures than this...This isn't all of it!
I think I'm going to keep that umbrella for myself.

Thrift Score!

I was beginning to think that I'd never find anything vintage here in Northern Virginia. The thrift stores are nothing like at home. Bummer! But at last, I found a few things...

Miss Elora was crabby as usual. I love it when her little teeth stick out!


Travis and I went to Murphy's. It's an Irish pub in Old Town Alexandria.
My pulled pork came to me HAPPY! It was pretty darn good. I especially loved their in house Hard Cider.


Got some new shoes at Pacers. It was my birthday present from Travis! I thought it would be a good idea to try these because they have "stabilization". I'm really hoping these help my plantar fasciitis go the heck away! Of course I had to get the most colorful, obnoxious pair they had!


Still loving my hair. I'm really surprised how well the color has held up. True, I have only actually washed it once since I got it dyed, which helps a lot. The purple ends are finally starting to show up. At first they just looked black.

Also, we tried out another new church. Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Arlington. It was great fun. They were SUPER welcoming. We actually ended up going to lunch with a few of them! A little bit more of a haul to get there than I would like. I'm really excited because they are partners with the International Justice Mission...which is FABULOUS. I'd be really excited to get involved with that. We'll see. I think we still have a few more to try out, but this one was one of the best yet.

HOLY crap!! Travis and I bought a Livingsocial deal to go to the Phillips Collection in DC. I honestly had no idea it had my favorite Renoir!! It was absolutely gorgeous in person!

Degas.

Picasso.

Dinner and Moroccan Tea! So good.

Travis and I went to a few thrift stores after. Got a few records containing precious nostalgia. 

Also, a dumpster dive for a friend back home.

Thrifty Wall Decor!

I'm SO excited about this project! 

Since summer I've been collecting mirrors for some thrifty wall decor.

I finally got enough mirrors, and put it all together. Check it out!

(Ok...Obviously, I don't have pictures of the next step.

But for the record, I took apart the mirrors and spray painted them. Easy enough right?)
