"The One I Love" (A portrait)

Introducing my newest painting...a Christmas gift to my wonderful husband.
"The One I Love" (A portrait)
"The One I Love" (A portrait)

Strong and steadfast.
Vibrant and flourishing.
Gentle. Servant. Leader.

Shaped and worn
from twists and turns.
A beautiful changed creature.

Your branches strong
reaching out
stretching to the sky.

Meant for more.
Called to greatness.
Son of the Most High.

Painting in progress

Well, it's back to work finally! I didn't exactly take summer off, but I didn't exactly have a lot of time to work either. My son is back to school and summer is winding down. I've started a new schedule, which I'm hoping will enable to me to work on several paintings at once, plus work on craft show/etsy material. We'll see!

Did I mention that I got to see the Backstreet Boys the other day?
Oh yes. I am not ashamed. I love my boy bands.

Evil Sweets 'n Treats

So I've been dieting. Three weeks back on track at Weight Watchers and I've lost 5.2 lbs. Not bad...but still over 12 lbs to go. Anyway food has been on the brain, and how evil it is. Just one beautiful cupcake can mess things up completely. It lets the monster loose never to return! HAHA! Thus my newest painting:

It is now available in my
Etsy shop along with prints.
I've also added the originals and prints of these:

Even though I'm getting things done, I'm slightly de-motivated lately. It's very unlike me. I'll try to post something a little more interesting next time.

1969

Going back through some of my old paintings, I asked my hubby to pick one for me to write about. Of course he chose probably one of the oldest ones I had in my flip book from 2005!

"1969"
Acrylic on Canvas

This painting I did specifically for the 1st annual Age of Aquarius show here in Butler. I honestly didn't know what to paint so I just surfed the net for some inspiration. I stumbled across this picture of a guy playing guitar labeled "1969." Originally my husband thought it was Bob Dylan but I'm relieved to say it's David Bowie. I'm a way bigger fan of Bowie than I am of Dylan anyway, so this is a good thing. I decided to go with a Warhol-pop art look. Unlike Warhol I did not use silk screening, but just painted it straight up in acrylic. This painting now belongs to my dear friends Dave and Lisa Krack.

London Girls

London Girls
36"x24"
acrylic on canvas
2005

This painting was taken from a picture I took in London obviously! I went there back in 2004 with a friend from my church. I took this pic while riding in one of those red double decker buses. There's no particular meaning behind this painting. I just thought the girls were cute.

Original picture below.

toasty warm...outside!

It's finally warming up! I am SO thankful. This has been by far the longest winter EVER!! My lil puppy wants to be outside all the time now. Where ever the sun is, that's where he is! The last dog we had was very insecure, so he wouldn't just go outside for long periods of time. Neko is totally different. He loves to hang out and just chill in the yard. It's too cute.

I've been painting a few different things, but haven't finished any of them quite yet. Just a peek at some of the fun I've been having.

Now, go do something outside!

I almost forgot!

I almost forgot to share with you a commission painting I did back in the fall months. Since it was going to be a present I couldn't reveal it until after Christmas.

This is my version of Dumbledore and his bird Fawkes. It was the first time I had painted a real face in quite some time so was not sure what to expect. I was very relieved to find out I could still do it. ^_^

Have a great day friends!

around these parts

It's FREEZING! A whopping 3 degrees out right now, and apparently tomorrow it's gonna go down to -4! Yikes! We got dumped on with snow last weekend so it's truly a winter wonderland. I can't complain about that part, I love snow! My poor little car was encased in an ice bubble by the end of the weekend.

So we've been keeping warm around here, especially Neko. He just loves sleeping under covers! He's such a sweet little puppy.

I'm working on multiple paintings this week. Here's one I've intermittently worked on in the past year. That's a crazy long time, but I just want it to be right. I'm really hoping I can get it done once an for all by the end of the month.

A random watercolor I started yesterday...

I'm also trying to cook up something for the Age of Aquarius show at our local Art Center. They are including 80's in this so I think I'm good. Nintendo oriented. Definitely.

Have a great day all!
